1996-09-27-A.G.M.

PRESIDENT'S  OPENING  STATEMENT ----A.G.M.    1996

By now you all should have received your copy of the latest MI-SOL NEWS and have read my Report, but as it has always been the tradition for the President to make the opening speech at the A.G.M. I would like to take this opportunity of re-iterating my comments and adding a few more recent events.

Unfortunately there is no further news regarding the reclamation of the 8,000.000 ptas that was paid to our old Abogado for the return of debtors plots, what a difference this vast sum of money could have made to the Park during the last 8 years it saddens me greatly to think of this money being lost to us forever.  Hopefully in the near future we may be able to re-claim some of the plots that were sold to owners when they were indeed not Mi-Sol's to sell, but of course we will receive no further funds into our coffers for these as they have already been purchased by owners in good faith.  It is indeed incredible to understand how some of these owners have managed to secure Escrituras for these plots.

Another problem that has occurred during this year is that our new Pool Maintenance company, Olympic  Pools, found a great amount of water was being lost from the Pool possibly due to the works carried out  during its refurbishment a few years ago.  It was thought at first that we would have to drain the pool once  again, with the ensuing cost, to remedy the problem.  Happily Olympic Pools were able to come up with a Solution, albeit possibly temporary, and it seems to have held for the season.  It may be necessary to carry out further works before the pool is opened next year.

As you have read in your Newsletter you will be asked at this A.G.M. for a gate to be inserted in the fence  opposite the Bar to enable Access, to our neighbours.  This motion will be put by the Bar owners as will also  the request from them to have their rent for the Bar reduced.  Both of these motions have already been put before the Committee but they are decisions that can only be made at the A.G.M.  According to Pepe and  Antonia these are necessary for them to continue running the Bar as to date they have not been able to make sufficient money to pay the staff required to run the Bar.  It does not appear to me that we have had less visitors to the Park overall this year and looking back to our records, when the committee was running the Bar, we seem to have been able to hold our head above water.

YEAR                         TRADING  PROFIT                   WAGES               TAXES
1993                               1,661,377                          637,485               34,956
1994                               1,594,523                       1,552,030             496,240

Another motion for consideration is the increase in the water, electric and Community fees.  Whilst none of  us likes increase in outgoings at any time it is unfortunately a fact that our costs are rising year by year and   as the proposed budget will show we have only been able to..........

........carry out all the improvements over the last few years by the sale of land both to M.O.P.U. and owners, a situation that cannot continue due to lack of land and lack of facilities to accommodate extra owners.  What a difference that 8,000,000 ptas would make today.

Today also you will be asked to select an entire new Conmittee to look after your interests in the coming year/s.  Use your vote wisely it is a very important medium and one that should not be taken lightly. Remember, you may only be here for your annual holiday but it is the very responsible task of your President  & Committee to ensure that your money is spent wisely, and not frittered away, to ensure that you may still enjoy your holidays here for many years to come.

On closing I would once again like to thank all my committee members, and the extra helpers, for their support in the past and I hope they all receive your vote of confidence to carry on their sterling work in the future.
