PRESIDENT'S REPORT
AGM: 26th SEPTEMBER 2009
At the EGM of 29th November 2008 1 was elected to represent Mi-Sol as president. I had been advised that the role was thankless and that is why, I assume there wasn't a flood of candidates.
The financial situation at the time was dire with our monthly outgoings exceeding income and it was clear to me that some drastic action had to be taken. I decided to suspend APYME, the administrators, to save Mi-Sol €14,000 and take on the administration myself with the help of committee members. We have been doing the administration now for eight months and it is more effective and accurate. To safeguard our legal status I retained the services of Rosario, our lawyer at a cost of €200 each month, thus allowing the continuity of court proceedings when required.
We had been using the banking facilities of Banco Popular for at least 6 years and in March I noticed that they had been taking €25 each month in respect of charges. My opinion was that this was outrageous and therefore sourced an alternative bank whose charges are €20 annually, thus saving us €380.
Due to the pool contractor breaking his agreement to provide pool maintenance at our cost of €500 each month, we have taken over that responsibility and the pool is now in excellent condition. The outstanding balance of payments is €3,000 Due to the additional repair needed to the tiles on the bottom of the pool; this is being withheld until the work is finished.
It has been difficult to maintain the park to an acceptable standard due to the lack of funds but after careful negotiations we are beginning to see welcomed improvements. My thanks to those owners who have come forward and volunteered their services in maintenance and repair work. I would like to thank the committee for their support and especially those who have worked tirelessly not only with the administration but their enthusiasm in helping me to find a resolution to the differences experienced over the last 6 years.
I feel at peace with myself that my efforts at being president have been to the best of my ability and I am happy to put my name forward for re-election.
